01 - MTV + VICE Case Study
I spent the earliest days of my career producing social media content for two of the biggest youth media brands around. My time at both MTV and VICE was a busy, fun and challenging motion design bootcamp. Respectively, I learnt a huge amount about creating at scale, and animation-as-improv.
My colleagues and I created hundreds of social posts, on-air promos, billboards and After Effects toolkits for the MTV Video Music Awards 2021. My role covered everything from turning design PSDs into animations, prepping project files for external vendors, building toolkits in After Effects, and helping create and track the various formats and types of nominee, winner and category videos each social media platform needed.
I was also part of the team that produced 300+ social and broadcast assets for the MTV Movie and TV Awards 2021. Like the VMAs, it was very much an all-hands-on-deck situation, which saw me jump between social, broadcast, animation, media management, and quality control elements of the project.
Animated by Janaina Oliveira, Gary Samson, Oscar Rivera, Mieka Jewett, Kate Lee, and myself. Design and art direction by Kevin Burke, Noelle Mullins, Joe Cosentino, Olufemi Leverett, TJ Kwak, Tim Livezy, and Rich Browd. Production by Nadgia Dixon and Vivian Castelo. Full credits here.
Every day VICE turns some of its best articles into short animated videos for posting on Instagram and Snapchat. In 2019 I was part of the team designing and animating up to 50 of these stories a week.

For VICE work: all designs and illustrations by me, except where noted.
